Already Moving!!!

Yes, I decided to go ahead & buy my domain name + hosting. I know I'm not published, a best-selling author on the rise, but I figured, if you believe it and claim it, it will be. SO for those of you who are interested in my journey to getting published, please visit my new website [still under construction] at : http://nyanicks.com/ you can sign up to the newsletter and get RSS feeds to get blog updates until the site is unveiled. I'm really excited about this.

I've already found a webmaster who's working on my site design, I've seen their work so I'll wait to release that info to until my site is ready.

TOODLES!

Where is the love...

Okay, you know Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack made this song popular. I LOVED their version; it's a classic and always will be. However, there was another version of this song that I rocked heavily in the mid-nineties and it was sung by Stephanie Mills and Robert Brookins. Stephanie was just cold back in the day - and I mean that in a dynamic way. She and Angela Winbush were two petite powerhouse vocalists who took no prisoners. Anyway, I brought up this song because sadly, Robert Brookins who sang the song with Stephanie Mills, passed away 4/15/09.

Time flies so fast. 20 years came & went and I'm now 36. Live each day to your fullest whether it's enjoying a good book, cuddling with someone you love, traveling to exotic places or climbing Mt. Everett, just enjoy it. My mom used to say, "You know you're getting old, when the people you grew up with [everyday and celebs] being passing away." It's true, I never met Mr. Brookins but his music still lives on & takes me back to a time where people had 'TIME' for one another. They had time to connect beyond the internet. Always take a moment to communicate with someone in some old fashioned way, whether in person, snail mail- smoke signals ;-) [smile].

SL- Novel - New Spin

As I was transferring chapters to my flash drive & doing a quick edit of what I'd written so far, the overall storyline took a turn. I was simply amazed at why I didn't think of it earlier but that's what writing , editing and rewriting is all about, growth of your story and depth of plot / characters.

There's a new spin for the main female character that doesn't take away from the storyline or changes it completely that I'm sure will add that extra umph in the query letters to publishers and agents. So we'll see. I'm really excited about this direction and I'm already seeing a 'movie' or tv series based on this character. You never know!

SL- The Novel

Right now I'm 61 pages into my novel 'SL'. It's a GREAT start to an interesting series. It combines varying elements of romance, adventure for a daring African American woman living in North Texas. As the series unfolds you'll see that her life will grow to encompass more action and suspense than any ordinary TEXAS Girl can imagine. She'll be the start of a 'movement' in Urban romance novels that I hope to create a niche for. We'll see. Honestly, I haven't seen anything like it on the net or in bookstores or in films so far. NOT saying that someone out there doesn't have a similar idea but I hope my twist on it is fresh. Anyway, on my lunch & breaks I churn out the words. I've set goals to type about 500-1000 words daily. My schedule is kinda of hectic with a full time job, part time school and other literary projects that for now I've devoted that goal for SL. Does anyone know how to add categories in BLOGSPOT or is this only a WORDPRESS feature. Am I gonna have ot move my blog? ;-)
